San Francisco, CA – Musician Jenny Lewis announced today that she will be cancelling her tour effective immediately to begin principle photography on “The Wii-zard”, which is a sequel to the 1989 film “The Wizard” that she starred in alongside Fred Savage. Lewis, who was touring in support of her new solo album “Acid Tongue”, was scheduled to play a show tonight at the Rio Theater in Santa Cruz.

Lewis issued a heartfelt apology to her fans saying, “I’m sorry I have to cancel the tour on such short notice. But, the role of Haley, which I played in the first installment, just became available because Angelina Jolie pulled out, and the offer was just too good to pass up. I know a lot of my fans will be disappointed, but a major motion picture like “The Wii-zard” will be a great chance for me to expose millions of new Americans to my craft. Thank you for your understanding.

The film is being released by Universal Studios, and according to the IMDB, its plot is: “20 years after winning Video Armageddon, the fifty grand has run out and Corey [Savage] and Haley’s marriage is on the rocks. However, with the release of the Nintendo Wii, a new Video Armageddon is scheduled to find the newest champion gamer. Jimmy, still a vid master, wants to defend his crown, but standing in the way is a still angry Lucas Barton who is hell-bent on revenge and winning the crown for himself.”

Lewis also made the announcement that she will be given the opportunity to contribute to the movie’s soundtrack. “I’ve been given the green light to write the movie’s main theme song, which will play over both a passionate love scene between myself and Fred [Savage] and also during the peak of Video Armageddon II as Jimmy and Lucas battle to the bitter end.”

All in all, the cancellation wipes out nearly forty shows that had been booked all over the country. According to Ticketmaster, full refunds for the tickets, minus convenience charges, facility charges, and parking charges, will be sent out in 8-12 months. All the customer needs to do is print off the correct cover sheet from the Ticketmaster website, sign it, get it notarized, have their priest/pastor/rabbi sign it, get one of their state senators to sign it, and send it via priority mail to the specified address.
