Milwaukee, WI – On the heels of the story that former Green Bay Packer quarterback Brett Favre is thinking about coming out of retirement to play for the Minnesota Vikings, orphanages and foster homes all over Wisconsin are finding themselves inundated with children whose name contains either ‘Brett’ or ‘Favre’.

According to Reggie Bicha, who is Secretary of Wisconsin’s Department of Children and Families, just over three hundred children have already been dropped off by parents who can no longer stand to be associated with their children, who they gave names that contained either Brett’ or ‘Favre’.

Troy and Peg Meyer of Johnson Creek, WI, were one of the first parents to take action when they dropped their ten year old daughter, Brettina Favre Meyer, off with foster parents five days ago.

“It just hurts so much.” Said Troy, “When I think of the best days of my life, the day Brettina was born ranks just behind the day Favre led us to victory in Super Bowl XXXI and the day Brett set the consecutive start record. Since she was born, every time I looked at Brettina, I thought of Brett, which made me the happiest father in the world. But all that’s changed now that he may come back and suit up for the Vikings. As the story continues to unfold, all the rage I’m feeling towards Brett is also felt when I look at Brettina, so I did what I needed to. I’ll miss her, but she’s in a good place now.”

Larry Knockwurst, who lives in De Pere, WI, identifies heavily with the Meyer’s. He dropped off his one year old son, Larry Favre 421TD Knockwurst, off at an orphanage soon after the story broke. “I just put him in his Brett Favre footie pajamas, wrapped him in his Brett Favre blanket, set all his Brett Favre jerseys on top of him, and dropped him off at the orphanage. Yeah, my wife will probably be pissed off, but what choice did I have?”

While these temporary homes are less than ideal for the children, Secretary Bicha is confident that they will be able to find long term solutions to the problem. “We’ve already begun contacting adoption agencies in Minnesota and Illinois, and there seems to be a lot of parents that would welcome these children with open arms. I fully expect this story to have a happy ending to go along with the horrible ending of Favre playing for the Vikings.”
