Seattle, WA – Delilah Rene, host of the widely syndicated request and dedication radio show, “Delilah”, announced today that she won’t be playing Journey’s song “Open Arms” on her show until she hears from a special caller with an extraordinary story.

The host said, “The word ‘love’ gets thrown around an awful lot on my show. Some of the stories I ask people to share when they call in to my show are stories of true love and love reunited. To be quite honest, a lot of the time when they call in, I can hear in their voice that the love they are sharing with that special someone, isn’t really that strong. Because of that, I’ll play them a second tier love song like Air Supply’s ‘All Out of Love’ or Extreme’s ‘More than Words’. They don’t get the crème de la crème of love songs… Journey’s ‘Open Arms’.”

Delilah went on to add, “I’m locking ‘Open Arms’ in the vault until I get that extraordinary story about love overcoming all odds to bring two people together after all hope had been lost. I need it to be the kind of love story that I tell my grandchildren about while I sob my way through an entire box of kleenex. The kind of love story that would make Nicholas Sparks say ‘I wish I had thought of that’. The kind of love story that would make women say, ‘I wish Nicholas Sparks had thought of that story so he could make it into a book that, when read in the bathtub, would make me lean back, turn on the faucet with my feet and enjoy some ‘me’ time while I dreamt about being the woman in the story’. Then, and only then, will I play “Open Arms”.

The decision to lock the song in the vault could ruffle some feathers with Delilah’s sponsors, as “Open Arms” receives numerous requests every hour. They fear that failure to play the song will frustrate listeners and possibly drive them away from the show and over to its main competition, the John Tesh Radio Show.

Delilah, however, defended her decision saying, “I’ve got enough Kenny G, Boyz II Men, and Savage Garden to fill in the gaps. Trust me, I wasn’t nominated for the 2007 Syndicated Personality/Show of the Year Award for nothing.”

  1. Hello, I was hoping that you could tell me the name of the Kenny G’s song that is played at the beginning of the show?

    I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks,

    Linda
