Short on Cash, M.C. Hammer Sends Gold Records to Cash-4-Gold.com
By Phil Buckridge • Oct 29th, 2008 • Section: MusicOakland, CA – In an effort to make a little cash in these tough economic times, M.C. Hammer sent all of his gold records into Cash-4-Gold.com today.
The gold albums, which Hammer received from Capitol Records for his albums “Let’s Get It Started” (1988), “Please Hammer Don’t Hurt ‘Em” (1990), and “Too Legit to Quit” (1991), had most recently adorned his bedroom wall, but were sent in to Cash-4-Gold.com after Hammer saw their TV commercial during a 2am airing of SportsCenter.
Hammer recalls being instantly excited, “I saw the commercial, and then I noticed that I had all these gold records hanging on my wall that could quickly and easily be turned into cash using Cash-4-Gold.com. While the gold records were wonderful symbols of my musical success, they were also symbols that could get me paid! Besides, if I want a reminder of my success, all I have to do is look at my collection of Hammer dolls while I eat lunch out of my Hammer lunchbox and watch re-runs of my Saturday morning cartoon, ‘Hammerman’”.
Immediately after seeing the commercial, Hammer requested his free, insured refiner’s return kits. When the kits arrived two days later, Hammer placed his gold records in the secured pouch and dropped the pre-paid insured envelopes into a convenient mail box (at no charge). He than sat back and relaxed and waited for his check to arrive in the mail.
Sure enough, only thirty days later, Hammer received his check for $36,985.
Cash-4-Gold was also thrilled when they received the records. A spokesperson for the company said, “We’re so happy that Hammer chose to turn his gold records into cold hard cash. With gold at its highest value in decades, Cash-4-Gold.com was able to give him top dollar. Plus, since we own our own refinery, we were able to cut out the middle man, which put even more cash in his pocket. It was a safe, reliable transaction with satisfaction guaranteed”
While Hammer is still unsure what he’ll do with his money, he’s thinking of using it all to help finance a friend’s movie. The movie, which does not yet have a title, is a romantic comedy set against the backdrop of WWII that is set to star Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Tara Reid.
