Compton, CA – Music’s newly formed “Feat. Hall of Fame” announced today that rapper/singer Nate Dogg was the unanimous choice to be its inaugural member.

The decision was made with great ease as the seven member voting panel, composed of Rick Rubin, DJ Premier, Jermaine Dupri, Dr. Dre, RZA, Pete Rock, and Timbaland needed only four minutes into their first meeting to come to an agreement.  They felt overwhelmingly that Nate’s unparalleled “Feat.” track record combined with the fact that his success as a featured artist was far greater than his success as a solo artist was all the reason they needed to bestow him with this historic honor.

The new “Feat. Hall of Fame” which is scheduled to open less than a year from now in Compton, CA, will, like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, also have a building designed by world renowned Chinese architect I.M. Pei. It’s slated to be just shy of 300,000 square feet when completed, and it will house numerous galleries that will help people from all over the world understand the history and significance of the featured artist.

Nate Dogg, whose real name is Nathaniel Dwayne Hale, has an instantly recognizable voice and has been a featured artist on close to 100 songs.  He made his “featured artist” debut in 1992 on the song “Deeez Nuuuts”, which was on Dr. Dre’s legendary hip-hop album “The Chronic”.  Since then he has appeared on tracks with rappers like Snoop Dogg, 2Pac, Ludacris, Jermaine Dupri, E-40, Fabulous, and Eminem, to name a few.  He is best known for his work on the track “Regulate”, which was on the “Above the Rim” soundtrack, and later Warren G.’s solo album “Regulate…G Funk Era”.

Nate’s work as a featured artist has also earned him four Grammy nominations.  He was nominated twice in the “Best Rap/Sung Collaboration” category (Eminem’s “Shake That” in 2007 and Ludacris’ “Area Codes” in 2002) and twice more in the “Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group” category (Dr. Dre’s “The Next Episode in 2001 and Warren G’s “Regulate” in 1995).

To further honor Nate Dogg, the voting committee is hoping to bring together a large group of artists that have worked with Nate over the years to hold a special concert on his induction night.  However, plans are currently on hold while Nate recuperates from a stroke that he suffered in September of 2008.
